Last week, De Soto High School had its annual spirit week leading up to homecoming. Every year, Student Council plans out themes for students to participate in during the Homecoming week.
This year, StuCo picked themes the students could greatly participate in. Junior StuCo representative Hannah Wilson helped pick some themes.
“I think the themes were good because they were fairly standard and ones that most people participate in.” Wilson said.
This year they added an unique theme to dress as your favorite meme.
“Meme day was my favorite because it has never been done at Mill Valley High School or DeSoto,” Wilson said.
Some other themes were Tourist Tuesday, Country vs. Country Club, Jersey Thursday and Green Grenade on Friday.
For junior Kendall Schmitt, her favorite spirit day was Tourist Tuesday.
“I liked Tourist Tuesday because I like the beach and I felt like I was on vacation,” Schmitt said.
Many people participate in spirit weeks and this year, DHS had the most school spirit they have seen.
“I think the participation was better than I’ve ever seen in my time at De Soto,” Wilson said.
The next spirit week will be during Breast Cancer Awareness week, which takes place October 2- 6, themes will be posted throughout the school and online.
