It’s not easy to balance college classes and school activities as well as playing a sport for a school and club team, but junior Morgan Laplante does just that.

Laplante has played on the De Soto High School soccer team for two years and was named to the Frontier League second team during the 2017 girls’ soccer season.

She is looking forward to the seasons ahead, and now she has something even bigger to be excited about: playing on a college level team.

Laplante committed in October 2017 to Oklahoma Baptist University to play on their women’s soccer team.

“OBU is really good academically and I really liked the school and the soccer team’s atmosphere of people and the places that surround it,” Laplante explained.

Even though she will miss her high school team, Laplante is eager to experience what it’s like to play at the college level.

“Everything is different about college sports,” Laplante said. “It’s more competitive. We’re going to travel more and we’re committed to playing more than three months of the year, unlike in high school.”

Not only is Laplante devoted to soccer, but to De Soto High School as well. So far, she has taken five Advanced Placement classes and is involved in Catpride, A&M Crew, Freshman Mentoring and Yearbook.

Laplante explained that she is very busy but likes being involved in so many different things and that she can’t wait to be a OBU Lady Bison.
