Fall sports at De Soto High School may have just come to an end, but the All-Frontier League teams are just being revealed. But how exactly does the all league work?

“An all league team is to recognize your top performers for a sports season within a group of schools,” activities director Ryan Johnson said. “There are meetings held after the regular seasons are over and then the coaches of the schools involved in that conference or league vote on them.”

Many students were picked for their sport to be on an all league team, including soccer player Carson Brier.

“I made all league my sophomore year as well, which felt pretty good. I feel honored to be included with the other talented players,” Brier said.

Soccer players honored on an all-league team first team were juniors Daniel Apple and Carson Brier, as well as senior Ethan Rodriguez. Junior Rohan Singh was placed on second team, and honorable mentions were given to sophomore James Henggeler, junior Sean Eggers and seniors Andrew Goodman and Blake Webber.

“It felt good to be recognized for the hard work and dedication to my sport,” Brier said.

Multiple volleyball players were placed on all-league teams as well. Juniors Ally Barnhart, Haley Cuba and Maya Bascom were all placed on first team, with junior Loren Hinkle being placed on second team. Honorable mentions were given to junior Cassidy Crist and senior Riley Moore.

“I was really proud because we’ve never had six players in one year receive an award or a recognition, so I was very happy for six of our girls to be able to receive that award,” head coach Lindsey Hothan said.

Compared to last year, both sports had considerably more students recognized. Last year only five soccer players and four volleyball players were recognized, while this year there 10 soccer players and six volleyball players given the honor.
