The De Soto High School bowling team had an extremely busy week of Feb. 6-10 competing in four meets.

On Monday, Feb. 6, the team took second by 62 pins, and senior Danny Erickson placed second overall with a score of 599.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, the team took second place again, where senior TJ Pennington consistently scored 200, and had a 635 series.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, the team took first place. Freshman Sean Cauthron took first overall with a score of 269.

Finally, on Thursday, Feb. 9, the boys’ team took first place with a score of 2,588. Erickson took first overall, setting a new series record of 715. Cauthron took second with a score of 682, and senior Garrett Euler took third with a score of 595. The girls’ team took second place with a total score of 1,452.

Cauthron was very excited not only about the team wins, but about his personal success as well.

“On Monday and Tuesday I won both of my meets, and on Wednesday I was down 90 pins and came back to win,” Cauthron said.

With all of their success lately, the team and head coach J.R. Kindred hope to compete this well for the rest of the season, Regionals and, if they make it, State as well.

“We have one meet left, and I’m very confident that we will perform exceptionally well. Coming off two first-place meets is a huge confidence booster,” Kindred said.

This busy week has given the team a lot of opportunities to bond as a team and spend more time together before the last few tournaments.

“Preparation for Regionals and State will just consist of practice, practice and practice. Team cohesiveness is vital and key to each player feeding off of each other,” Kindred said.

The 2017 State tournament will be held on Mar. 2 in Wichita, Ks. While the Regional tournament will be held on Feb. 22 at Tecumseh- Shawnee Heights, Gage Bowl.
