The De Soto High School cross country teams went to Rim Rock Farm outside of Lawrence to compete on Sept. 24.
The DHS teams participated in the Blue Division, one of three groups of runners at Rim Rock, in varsity girls’, varsity boys’ and JV boys’ races.
Junior Gabby Collins placed 20th out of 251 runners with a time of 21:29.7, and the whole varsity girls’ team placed 26th out of 35 teams with a total of 575 points.
Junior Kason Jackson placed 16th out of 304 runners and medaled with a time of 17:42.8, and the whole boys’ team placed fourth out of 42 teams with a total of 231 points.
“I was just hoping for a good result and a good effort once I got done with the course and it went as good as I could have hoped it would have, and at the end of the day I’m happy with what happened,” Jackson said.
The team will be competing again Saturday, Oct. 1, at Shawnee North Community Center in Topeka.
