Freshman Girls Basketball

When you look at the beginning of the winter sports season to now, you think varsity basketball. Not many people think about the freshman teams that are competing. The freshman girls basketball team has improved from the beginning of the season to now.

The team is 4-9 so far this season. The team has gotten better in competing with the teams, even if they come up short, because they are playing better defense and scoring more.

“League teams are really tough,” coach DeAnn Thaemert said.

In the Frontier League the teams are Louisburg, Ottawa, Spring Hill, Paola, Baldwin and Eudora.

They have beat Paola twice, Ottawa once and Washington once.

Lately, Thaemert has noticed that the girls have been scoring more and being more competitive. They have lost a couple of close games.

For the most part, all these girls are good friends.

“We’re pretty tight. We are all best friends, that’s a good thing, sometimes. Sometimes we talk too much or mess around and get in trouble,” Kassidy Seaba said.

They have one game left, it is away at Baldwin. They played Louisburg on Feb. 21 and lost, but they play Baldwin on Feb. 23.
