Mondays at De Soto High School have an addition to the morning routine… weekly announcement videos. Student Council has been producing weekly videos that are shown every Monday morning containing everything needed to know about the upcoming week.

“It’s kind of a way to get everyone on the same page,” StuCo sponsor Katie Meserko said. “It’s a visual representation of what is happening at our school every week.”

For those students who don’t always notice the TV’s or check the app, the video announcements are designed as a way to get information about events out to everyone.

“We wanted something that the whole school could see, and the TV’s were not used as much as we’d like them to be,” said sophomore pep representative Chase Culver. “We came up with an announcement that could be played for the class for everyone to see.”

As well as basic weekly announcements, the videos will also include a Wildcat of the Week and extra information about events like Homecoming and spirit weeks.

“We’re also going to have a Wildcat of the Week, but mainly it will be used to be caught up on events,”StuCo president Whitney Wegner said.

As for what students can see in the future, they can expect more and more content as time goes on.

“We’re going to get started on better editing software and intros and outros and it’s going to be more fun and get the whole school involved,” Culver said.

Students can tune in to the videos every Monday and be caught up with all they need to know about what’s going on at DHS.
