Junior Faith Hammontree announced her commitment to play volleyball at Kansas State through Twitter on October 18, 2016.

New student and Kansas State volleyball commit Faith Hammontree is excited to finish her high school career at De Soto High School.
Hammontree is a junior and committed to play Division 1 volleyball in October 2016 when she was a sophomore.
“I chose Kansas State because it was just a gut feeling that that’s where I belonged, I love the family community they have, the players were welcoming, the coaches were amazing and when I went to camps they were the only coaches that knew how to pull out my best,” Hammontree said. “Once I knew it, the decision was easy.” Hammontree said.
Hammontree hopes to graduate a semester early to get a head start in college volleyball.
With only three semesters left at DHS, Hammontree is excited to meet new people and enjoy the rest of her high school career.
Hammontree is familiar with De Soto since she attended grade school and middle school in the district. She ultimately chose to attend high school at Heritage Christian Academy, which is a small 2A school.
“I am excited to be in a bigger school and get an actual high school experience, like going to football games,” Hammontree said.
Hammontree is not currently involved in any activities but would love to expand into new activities and clubs and play volleyball next fall.
Junior setter Kennedy Higgins is excited to welcome Hammontree to the program.
“I think Faith will impact our team by giving us more options to use,” Higgins said. “She has a great attitude towards the game and she is overall a great player.”
Hammontree plans on finishing her high school career at DHS and leave her legacy on the court.
